3D Ultrasound

Matt and I went today to Small Wonders Imaging in Summerville to get a 3D ultrasound done for Connor.  It was very exciting!

I actually had kind of an upset stomach earlier today, but I wonder if it was just nerves?

The ultrasound is really cool and it's interesting to see how he looks skinny or distorted in some pictures but plump and healthy in others!

I had to lay on my side to get some good shots.  His head is on my left side near my pelvis bone.  Makes sense because most of the movement I feel is on my right side so I guess I'm feeling some big 'ol kicks!

He had his head tucked into his chest most of the time so it was kind of hard to get some good facial shots of him.  He is SUCH  a sweet boy and I absolutely cannot wait to meet him in real life!  Well, okay.  I can.  I can definitely wait until say February 15.

It's finally starting to seem real that we have a little man on the way.

Here are all of our pictures:

Rubbing my face

Look at that smooshed up nose!

Profile in regular 2D.  Check out that spine!

His arms look SO skinny here!

And not so skinny here!

His heartrate was 148.

BIG stretch!

I just love this picture.  What a sweetie!

Flexing?  Stretching?  Showing off his muscles?

Flexing?  Stretching?  Showing off his muscles?

Some of them are super clear and others look a little funny, but we are so glad we did this and got a "sneak peek" at our little man!

Also glad to see he's doing well after his first Carolina game yesterday!

It's A Boy!

We had our ultrasound appointment today.  This morning I was SO nervous.  I was really scared something would be wrong with the anatomy scan.

When I was teaching my kids, I was fine.  But, as soon as the last one left, I got that dreaded feeling again.

We got there 15 minutes early (as usual) and were told there would be a delay and the tech was backed up.

So, we sat and waited and waited.  A not so pleasant part of our wait was a girl that threw up all over herself in the waiting room.  I would say more, but just can't even think about going there!

To get away from it all, I went back to give the standard urine sample.

After a while we got called back, but by then, I had to go to the bathroom again!  I was SO glad I did because the ultrasound probe was pressing all up against my bladder.

Boy oh boy, was our baby moving around.  The ultrasound tech found and pointed out the thigh bones and butt and I thought I saw something between the legs, but wasn't sure.  Then we moved on to looking at the head and making sure all parts of baby's body looked good.  It was amazing seeing the heartbeat and we were even able to listen to it.  Baby's heartbeat was 133 which is normal (120-160).

After some exploring we were finally able to see we are having a boy!  Our predictions were right!

It was SO surreal to see him moving all around and not be able to feel it.  The ultrasound tech said it would probably be 20-22 weeks until I could feel movement.  I feel SO much better after seeing him today though. He was so cute moving his arms and legs all around.  At one point it looked like he was waving hi!  Here are some pictures from our ultrasound today.

How far along? 17 weeks (almost 18!)
Total weight gain/loss: Down 1 pound.  I have no idea how because I have not been exercising (due to the heat) and certainly haven't been really watching what I eat.
Maternity clothes? It still hot, so I'm pretty much living in skirts and dresses for work. If I wear shorts on the weekends my belly band is MUST!
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Fine.  I do wake up with heartburn sometimes and it takes me a while to fall back asleep, but overall pretty good.
Best moment this week: Finding out it's a boy!
Miss Anything? Coke Zero & Diet Dr. Pepper.  A coworker of mine popped open a diet coke the other day and it smelled heavenly....
Movement: Nope.  The tech said it could be up to 22 weeks
Food cravings: None.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Aside from the lady barfing in the waiting room today, no.
Have you started to show yet: A little
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: Lord I hope not!
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On, but I can't wear my right hand ring. I'm having lots of lovely skin issues (which I'm pretty sure is unrelated to pregnancy).
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but I definitely have my moments. I can get irritated quite easily :)
Looking forward to: Planning the nursery and starting our registry

Ultrasound #2

Wow, it's hard to believe it's been so long since I first wrote.  I guess I never wrote about our first ultrasound.  Honestly, there wasn't a whole lot to see.  Here's the 4-1-1.

Our appointment was on June 26.  When I went, I should have been over 6 weeks.  I had the ultrasound and there was hardly anything there.  Here's a picture.

I'm not sure why it won't rotate.  Basically we saw the yolk sac and a faint flicker (the heartbeat), but there really was not much to see.

Since we didn't see that much and I was measuring 6 days behind, I honestly wasn't sure what to think.  I was worried about what we would find out our next appointment which was 3 whole weeks away on July 17.  I knew worrying would do no good, so I tried not to.  It was hard and those 3 weeks really dragged on.

We went for our appointment yesterday and I was honestly planning for the worst.  The doctor seemed confident however.  I held my breath as the ultrasound began and I could tell immediately we had a growing baby!

Seriously, what a difference!

Overall, I've felt pretty good.  I'm definitely tired A LOT.  I take naps almost daily and don't know how on earth I'd be functioning if I was teaching right now.  There have definitely been days where I've felt pretty sick.  If I haven't eaten in a while I feel very sick.

Here's a fun little questionnaire I've seen on other blogs:

How far along? 9 weeks. So happy to be closer to my initial due date of 2/15!  Baby Walton's new EDD is 2/18
Total weight gain/loss: I think maybe 1 or 2.  I haven't been tracking it, although I should.  I just eat when I'm hungry and try to get in 30 minutes of exercise daily.
Maternity clothes? Nope.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Definitely not as good as it used to be.  I used to never wake up to go to the bathroom.  Now I'm waking up about once a night.  When I get back in bed, I usually have a really hard time falling asleep.  It's frustrating!
Best moment this week: Seeing our baby on the ultrasound.  It provided peace of mind!
Miss Anything? Sleeping through the night!
Movement: We saw it on the screen, but definitely too early to feel anything.
Food cravings: None.  I crave water a lot, but there's no food I crave in particulary.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Chicken.  Particularly fast food commercials for "real" chicken tenders and eating  a big piece of chicken.  Yuck!
Have you started to show yet: No.  I've always had a bulge on my stomach so I feel like I've looked preggers for a really long time.  I also look really {and feel} really bloated.
Gender: Matt thinks it's a boy, I think it's a girl.  One of us has to be right!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On, but I had to get my wedding band resized.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but I definitely have my moments.
Looking forward to: Telling our parents this weekend!  I have the perfect way to tell them planned out.  I am SO excited!
Here's a video we took at our ultrasound yesterday.  ♥
